Un sistema complejo es el conjunto de condiciones espaciales y temporales (el campo de juego) donde los distintos elementos del proceso de ventas interaccionan entre ellos y con elementos del ambiente.
La importancia del contexto
El contexto determina el resultado de cualquier proceso de venta. Las mismas personas, realizando las mismas acciones en distinto momento o contexto, podrían obtener los mismos resultados, o no.
El resultado del proceso de venta de un vendedor de paraguas, con la misma experiencia, capacidad, habilidades, etc. y el mismo cliente (que anda por la calle sin un paraguas) será diferente si llueve o no.
La venta es un sistema complejo
El ejemplo anterior parece un sistema simple. Un sólo elemento parece influir en el resultado final del proceso de venta, pero no es así.
El resultado de la venta cambiará si la lluvia es fuerte o débil, si hace mucho rato que llueve o acaba de empezar a hacerlo, si el cielo está muy encapotado o se ve el sol claramente, si comprador y vendedor están en Londres o en El Cairo, si el comprador está cerca de su casa o lejos, etc.
La cantidad de variables que podrían influir en una decisión de compra son prácticamente ilimitadas, pero a la hora de la verdad, sólo algunas de ellas influyen realmente en el resultado final del proceso. El objetivo del científico de ventas es descubrir que variables influyen en cada proceso de ventas y determinar los atractores que aumentarán la probabilidad de éxito.
